Your face is the first thing people see when they engage with you. Treasure it as neglect is difficult to reverse and your skin health is a good indicator of your body’s  state of wellness

1. Protect yourself from the sun

One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems, as well as increase the risk of skin cancer. Try to wear a sunscreen day cream to protect your sin every day, even in winter.

2. Avoid smoking

Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow and makes skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health. Free radicals from smoking often lead to skin cancer.

3. Treat your skin

Daily cleansing with a gently ph.-neutral cleanser is essential. Please do not use anti-bacterial soaps on your skin as it rids the skin, your largest organ that represents 16% of your body, of its natural microbiome. Rather use a glycerin or cream soap. Always moisturize in the morning and in the evening with a nourishing cream that suits your skin type: oily, dry or neutral. Protect your skin against the winter climate with additional hydration to prevent skin damage.

4. Eat a healthy diet

A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Stay away from sweet and fatty foods when you have a problem skin. For optimal skin health Vitamin B’s are very important, as well as Vit A, Vit C, Vit D and Collagen, a protein peptide that keeps your skin firm.  Look at your nails and if they have ridges length-wise and are brittle, you lack sufficient nutrients for your skin , hair and nails. Rather add a suitable supplement to complement your daily diet.

  1. 5. Drink enough water daily

If your skin doesn’t get enough water, not only will it become dry, tight, and flaky, but it will also become even more prone to aging. Your body loses large quantities of water every day as we sweat to regulate our body temperature. You should ideally consume 6- 8 glasses of fluid, daily, especially in wintertime.
